When Giants fall on their ass

-they win the SUPER BOWL.

Ass me no questions, I'll tell you no lies;
I forgot not to score.
Giant running back Ahmad Bradshaw was not happy to have scored the go-ahead touchdown with about a minute to go in this very tight Super Bowl.  As a Giant fan at home wearing my brand new Cruz jersey, I wasn't happy to see it.  He tried to stop at the 1 yard line, squatted to freeze his momentum, and tipped ass first into the end zone anyway.  History's only unwanted touchdown.  Why?  You don't leave Tom Brady that much time at the end of a game, not in the Super Bowl.  He wins them that way.

Except against my Giants.  Yes, my Giants.  The defence held again and the Giants won the Super Bowl.  A-gain.  Sorry, Tom.  I know that's twice now.  That's gotta hurt.  But he's already got Giselle Bundchen and three title rings.  This one belongs to clutch QB Eli Manning and the New York Giants.

And if I were god, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

  1. Congratulations. No complaints from this Pats fan. We were beaten fair and square.

  3. Thing is, I think it was the right play for him to score the TD. If he falls at the one, and then somehow Tynes shanks the FG or there's a bad snap? You've just given away the Super Bowl. Yeah, Brady with 57 seconds and a time out is a scary proposition, but the Giants D kept them under control all day. I tend to think that the Football Gods generally frown upon teams trying to be "cute."

  4. Angie,
thank you, thank you, on behalf of all the guys thank you very much

    Sully,
    Very classy sir.

    Nicky,
Very NOT. Canadian sportmanship? Sour cheese?

    Chris,
If I were coach (a different blog entirely) I would've run one non-scoring play, running 40 seconds off and leaving 17 ticks, then gone for the TD and if that failed then kick the field goal.
As for the Football 'Gods', they do what they're freakin' told!
AND... I can't help it if I'm cute. I made me that way.

    1. I cannot help but be very happy for the Giants. I don't like Tom Brady, but I love the Manning brothers. What a great game! I loved every minute, and my team won too!

    2. It was a nerve racking game after they came back and rolled over our defense with two touchdowns. Good game, down to the wire. Great plays, replays, a turnover, hard fought -and in doubt right to the final second. Couldn't ask for more; a very satisfying win.

And now I get my Sundays back, which is good because I still have a lot to do on this house.

  5. Okay, I get that...I'd forgotten what down they scored on. If it was second down, then sure, you'd definitely take another shot at the end zone.

  6. This is some of the best explanation of that TD. It really is a wonderful picture of the athlete's mind competing against his training. Guy has spent his entire life for that moment. How is he supposed to resist? It all worked out. One of the best games ever. And I never cared who won.

  7. Chris,
I stand behind what I wrote, BUT of course strategy's always easier on Monday morning

    Fred,
It was a great game, but believe me, the experience is so much more intense if you have a horse in the race. Especially when he wins!

  8. It was a great game and the right team won. I was rooting for the Giants and I like Coach Coughlin and Eli, but one thing bothered me about that play or more precisely the comments afterwards. Eli and others stated afterwards "we knew they were gonna let us score", in fact Eli stated that as he was handing off the ball he was saying "Don't score, don't score". Here is my troubling question, If all that is accurate, why didn't Eli just keep it and slide down at the one? Seems obvious to me. Oh well it all worked out fine.
